 Damn deer

Well, So much for my great little work beater!! My 86 Jetta Diesel is probably dead because of a deer strike. Now I'm gonna have to start looking for another one of these babies and they are getting RARE!!

Sorry, just venting. See a before pic on my website below. If I get the digicam back I'll put an after pic up.

Thanks for the sympathy.

Unfortunately my white Jetta was a $500 car to begin with, and to insure it with comp and/or collision, my ins co wanted a professional appraisal and other "hoops" jumped through, so I said to h#ll with it and just went with liability.

Damage: Grill, right headlight, hood, right fender, maybe radiator support and right inner fender support. I hit HER (Too small to keep, but big enough to cause damage!)right in the head with my right headlight, so her behind swung around and distroyed the entire fender, but luckily not the door. If I can find a cheap fender I'll try to fix her.

Naw, not really worth it. I think I'm gonna sell her to someone who wants a project. Got a new fender and headlight for her, but no time to install. Any takers??

Thought I'd give you folks the update on the dead Jetta.

It will LIVE again!! $35 fender, $60 (!!) for a headlight and turn signal, free left over paint (From 2 years ago "driveway" paint job), free use of the paint booth at work and tomorrow -- Reassembly!

I brought out my Dodge truck from semi-retirement to use, but as much as I love my Dodge, 45mpg from the Jetta can't be beat! She just runs too well to junk!

BTW had to put new batteries in the Dodge, and found that Semi tractor type ( type 31-P case ) batteries of 950 amps are much cheaper than the oem small case batteries. A bit of plastic trimming was all that was necessary to fit them.

Just some more useless info from your Uncle Larry.
